First Day of School

The night before the first day of school I am a bit nervous and can't get to sleep.  This year there were no nerves and I was able to get to sleep.  I guess I'm just numb.  I haven't really been looking forward to beginning the year.  It's sad that so many great teachers are gone.  It's sad that our test scores went down.  It's sad that class size has increased.  So many things to be sad about.  This morning a parent was rude to me because I don't speak Spanish.  He told me that I had a Mexican face and that I should speak Spanish.  This was at 7:30...nice way to start the day.  I noticed a lot of the kids didn't say hi to me...guess I've been around so long that I've just kind of blended into the scenery.  Lunch was fun...so many smiling, happy faces.  Most of the time, lunch with the kids gives me that boost of energy I need to get through the day...plus, I love hanging out with the cafeteria crew...they are the best!  Bring on day two!
